Christian Riis Ruggaber works and lives in Zurich. In 1996, he began getting involved autodidactically with Graphic Design and Design, whilst working at Windsurfing Chiemsee and later on at adidas International in various positions. Upon his return to Switzerland and working as a lecturer at the Zurich University of the Arts, Christian embarked upon his work in photo analysis, photo development and photo language. At the same time, he started to intensify his photographical work to find answers to the technical questions emerging from his artistic work and photographical snap-shots. Whilst finding a technical approach to his work, he developed his passion for objects and landscapes, a passion for the photographical restaging of profound objects and for exploring the questions of readability and perception of photographs.
